Batsquatch is a flying cryptid that was allegedly sighted near Mount St. Helens. It resembles a flying primate, similar to the Ahool and the Orang Bati of Southeast Asia and its name is derived from the words "bat" and "Sasquatch" . A witness allegedly took several pictures of the creature. However, these pictures have not been yet analyzed, and thus cannot prove the creature's existence. This creature was said to have yellow eyes, a wolf-like muzzle, blue fur, sharp teeth, bird-like feet, and leathery bat-like wings. In addition, batsquatch is said to be 9 feet tall and has the ability to affect car engines. This is possibly a misunderstood sighting of Mothman considering it also affected man-made things, like Mothman can. On April 1994, Brian Canfield was driving in Washington's Pierce Country when his truck suddenly died. Canfield said a large creature landed in front of him. He said it was human-like, 9 ft tall, and had batlike wings and it also sported a coat of blue fur. Ever since then it has not been seen and skeptics dismiss it as a hoax. On June 2011 Pheonix Tieraz (Not Real Name) was in his yard walking his dog. He went to pick up the dog when he saw something in the sky. He said the following: "I saw something flying the the sky. It had bat wings, blue fur and had a face similar to eyes glowing red. It was about 9 feet tall at the least, after I watched it just flew away. This is the second sighting. On April 14, 2014 at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron OH, a second period Spanish class spotted a giant black mass zip by the window of the classroom at incredible speed. The class claims it was about 9 feet tall with a 20-30 foot wingspan. This is the third sighting.
The term Bigfoot is used to describe a legendary race of ape men all over the world. The term is sometimes synonymized with Sasquatch, a hominid cryptid found in North America. There are many cryptids called "Bigfoot" found throughout the world, although it is commonly used to describe the North American Sasquatch. Some, such as the yeti, colloquially known as the abominable snowman, are believed to inhabit Tibet, Nepal, and India, while Yeren are alleged to inhabit Hubei, China. Almas Hibagon Ngoui Rung Skunk Ape Sasquatch Swamp Stalker of Boggy Creek Yeren Yeti Yowie A Bigfoot is a heavy, bipedal humanoid ape. It is believed that Bigfoot stands at around eight to ten feet tall--however the Hibagon stands at only four to five feet--and has long arms. It has dense fur, ranging in colors from red, to white, to brown. It has very large feet, which is why it is called "Bigfoot." Some people believe that Bigfoot is the descendant of the prehistoric giant orangutan Gigantopithecus, whereas others think it descended from prehistoric hominids such as a Neanderthal Man or Australopithecus. Some sightings of Bigfoot can be traced back to bears.
The Bunyip (translated in Aboriginal Australian to mean devil or evil spirit), also known as the Kianpraty, is a creature of Aboriginal mythology. It lives in the swamps, billabongs, creeks, riverbeds and waterholes of Australia. Bunyip in the Wemba-Wemba language means "devil" or "evil spirit. the Bunyip has many descriptions. Some say it has a dog-like face, dark fur, a horse-like tail, flippers, a walrus-like tusks, and a duck-like bill. Others think the creature has an appearance similar to a snake with a man and a beard. Some even think that the bunyip is actually the prehistoric marsupial, Diprotodon australis, that managed to escape extinction. This creature is described to gobble up children and livestock in several Aboriginal bedtime stories if they come to close to the water's edge. One legend says that a man named Bunyip broke the Rainbow Serpent's greatest law by eating his totem animal. Banished by the good spirit, Biami, the man became an evil spirit that lured tribesmen and their livestock into the water so he could eat all of them. The Bunyip is also said to prey upon the women and children of aboriginal tribes during the night. One of the first recorded accounts of the bunyip took place in 1818, when James Meehan and explorer Hamilton Hume both found enormous bones in Lake Bathurst, located in New South Wales of Australia. They described the creature similar to a manatee or a hippopotamus. In the mid-1830s, George Rankin discovered fossilized bones in the Wellington Caves located in New South Wales of Australia, later to be followed by explorer Thomas Mitchell. British anatomist Sir Richard Owen described the bones to be the remains of prehistoric marsupial Diprodoton. On July of 1845, the Geelong Advertiser describes the Bunyip in great detail. It was also the first recorded use of the term "Bunyip": "The Bunyip, then, is represented as uniting the characteristics of a bird and of an alligator. It has a head resembling an emu, with a long bill, at the extremity of which is a transverse projection on each side, with serrated edges like the bone of the stingray. Its body and legs partake of the nature of the alligator. The hind legs are remarkably thick and strong, and the fore legs are much longer, but still of great strength. The extremities are furnished with long claws, but the blacks say its usual method of killing its prey is by hugging it to death. When in the water it swims like a frog, and when on shore it walks on its hind legs with its head erect, in which position it measures twelve or thirteen feet in height." In 1847, a strange skull was found in the Murrumbidgee River near Balranald in New South Wales. It was later put on exhibition at the Australian Museum in Sydney. The skull was later proven to only be the cranium of a disfigured horse or calf.
The Cherufe is an evil, humanoid creature of rock and magma. It is said that Cherufe inhabit the magma pools found deep within Chilean volcanoes and are the source of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Cherufe are also said to be the source of magicians' ardent stones, meteorites and volcanic stones) that cause damage in volcanic regions. The only way to abate the Cherufe's appetite for destruction was to satiate the beast's taste for human flesh by throwing a sacrificial victim into the bowels of its volcanic home. Much like the European dragon, the Cherufe's preferred delicacy came in the form of virginal maidens. Legend has it that once the Cherufe was finished consuming the more delicate portions of its victims, it would delight in a macabre game in which it would ignite the disembodied heads of the young girls who were sacrificed to it, and hurtle them from the mouth of its volcanic home. The mythological origins of this beast may have originated to explain anomalies of geological events such as volcanic eruptions. In Cryptozoology, the Cherufe is described as a large reptilian humanoid creature or dragon. A variation of the Cherufe called the Red Cherufe appears in The New Brighton Archeological Society graphic novel. Cryptozoological investigators also consider the possibility that the legends of the Cherufe maybe be based, albeit loosely, on sightings of an actual biological entity, which would have to be capable not only of surviving, but flourishing, in the incredible heat of molten rock. This might be similar to animals who thrive in the tremendous heat found in the mineral rich exhaust of hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor. However, in the "original" Mapuche legend, the Cherufe is not a dragon, reptile humanoid or similar creature; and this description is based on a later mistaken interpretation of the myth.
A doppleganger is a cryptid that originated in Germany but has spread all throughout the world. The word doppleganger literally means double goer. A doppleganger is essentially an evil twin. It goes around to your friends and relatives, confusing them. They think it's you, so they can easily mess up your life. They can also end it. Seeing your own doppleganger signifies death. In other words, you see your doppleganger, you die. Look in a mirror. That's what a doppleganger looks like. Some people think it may be a ghost or spirit of some sort, and others think it's actually a creature with flesh and blood. Little is known about dopplegangers, and zero is known about their original form, as they immediately mimic the first person they see. The one thing that distinguishes them from normal people is that they have no shadow or refection. This kind of supports them being a spirit of some sort. They may have some amount of psychic abilities(they can put thoughts in your heads). There's no pictures because the doppleganger is an exact(or almost exact) replica of someone. Most people never see their doppleganger, but some do. When they do, they often die.. The doppleganger can either be nice, and hang out, or it can be evil, and ruin your life(like going into your job and saying that they quit. The next day, you wont be able to go to work). There are so many instances of dopplegangers, that there is almost no need for this. But just so this article won't be a stub, here are some famous people's dopplegangers. Queen Elizabeth 1 saw her doppleganger in her bed right before she died. Edgar Allan Poe even said he had a doppleganger. In some of his work, he describes a double with evil, sinister qualities...
Ghostly Scarecrow
In 2005, villagers living in a rural Thailand farming community claimed to have had a close encounter of the 3rd kind with a small, red-eyed, yellowish entity, which they claim was frolicking in the air above a rice field. Located about 488 miles north of Bangkok — and situated on the Kok River basin — the Chiang Rai province is situated within the renowned Golden Triangle area where Myanmar, Laos and Thailand converge. Nestled within this province is the small, provincial farming village of Huay Nam Rak. On the morning of August 31st, 2005, no less than ten residents of this tiny village claimed to have seen a bizarre, yellowish, humanoid figure hovering above a ridge that ran through a rice and lemongrass field owned by 69 year-old Ti Kitkangbon. The first eyewitness of this strange event to come forward was a 51 year-old man named Sawaeng Bunratchasak, who claimed that he spied the being while bicycling past the field sometime between 8 and 8:30 am., on the morning in question. Bunratchasak — who was adamant about the fact that he was completely sober when he spied the creature — said he first thought the entity was a scarecrow that has somehow been automated, but upon closer evaluation decided that it was a living creature. According to Bunratchasak the moment that chilled him to the bone was when this hovering “scarecrow” nodded its head and stared directly at him with its blood-red eyes in a fashion that struck the frightened witness as an imploring gaze — as if it were “asking for help.” Bunratchasak hastily left the scene and informed the rest of the villagers about this strange being, which he described as an armless humanoid creature with two small legs — which tapered to pointed feet – and yellow-colored skin. He further stated that it was about 30-inches in height and that it had a large head, with equally large ears, attached to a relatively small body. Most disturbingly he informed them that gravity had no apparent effect on this ostensibly alien beast. As soon as he heard this odd tale from his friends, 35-year old Sawaeng Boonyalak — along with several other villagers — dashed to Kitkagbon’s field to see it for themselves. Boonyalak later described this almost unbelievable apparition to reporters: “The alien is about seventy centimeters high and has yellow skin and (a) flat chest. Its mouth is very tiny. It has bald big head with big eyes and big ears.” While Bunratchasak was the first to report the incident, Buapan Lawichai would later claim that she actually was the first to have seen the being floating listlessly above the field at around 6:30 in the morning. This apparent mastery over the force of gravity is is a trait that this entity shares with numerous other supposed visitors from out of this world, including Finland’s Kinnula Humanoid, Kentucky’s infamous Hopkinsville Goblins and the eerie Japanese apparition known as the Alien Cosmonaut. Sawaeng claimed that he and the other villagers observed as this weird being — which he described as having a large round head that looked like a “light bulb,” red eyes and yellowish skin — as it wandered about the field for nearly an hour, seemingly unconcerned about the humans who were staring at it. This apparent obliviousness to observers is also a common characteristic described by witnesses at numerous alleged alien encounters such as in the cases of Japan’s Kofu Fanged Humanoids, Russia’s Voronezh Aliens and Zimbabwe’s Ariel School Aliens. Some of the eyewitness — like Buakaew Intaweng — believed that the creature was some sort of animated doll, indicating, perhaps, that it employed jerky, robot-like movements. Others insisted that it was more of a spectral apparition, which they compared to “Casper the friendly ghost.” Villager Kamma Pinsaimoon stated that he watched what looked like a “child floating” until about 10:30 am., when the entity “stretched,” turned jet black, then disappeared into the sky like a soaring rocket. Others insisted that the being disappeared into bright, glowing orb that hovered above it in the sky. Investigator Kittikasem Ratanakosa, visited the scene soon after to interview all of the eyewitnesses and examining rocks or soil in the area. He claimed that many of the people he had talked to told him of a “floating fire” had been seen falling from the sky near the rice field just one night before the villagers claimed to see the alien. Is it possible that this mysterious “scarecrow” was a survivor of a UFO crash who was just waiting for a ride from some sort of intergalactic taxi service? If there was a crash, no mention of any debris has been made, suggesting, perhaps, that this glowing orb might not have been a taxi so much as a tow truck. Needless to say, it wasn’t long before curiosity seekers — approximately 100 per day — flocked to this small village from miles around in the hopes of catching a glimpse of this enigmatic entity. Villagers piled onto several pickup trucks even raided the Mae Jan District Office trying to confirm the false rumor that the celestial visitor had been caught. This, of course, prompted the local police force to take action. Police Colonel, Kittisin Kongtaweepan — the superintendent of Mae Jan District Police Station — sent in a cadre of extra officers to deal with the ever increasing crowds. Kongtaweepan even tried to dissuade the visitors from coming by claiming that there was no evidence that this creature was an alien or that it even existed at all, save for the eyewitnesses’ sketches. He tried to support this claim by stating that his officers had found no traces of damage to the rice field, conveniently ignoring the fact, it would seem, that all of the eyewitnesses claimed that the creature was floating above — as opposed to walking on — the rice field. The media interest in this case became so overwhelming that Banjong Yang-yuen, Jan Jawa Sub district Municipality Mayor asked the village chief to set up a camera in the rice field in case the entity returned. He also was forced to dispatch a crew of workmen to repair the road running past the field, which had been churned into a mud pile by the massive influx of traffic. For a moment it seemed as if the identity of this mystery monster might finally be put to rest when Tongmuan Pochailoet — a resident of the nearby village if Doi Kam, which is located about 6-miles from Huay Nam Rak — claimed that the episode might have something to do with the discarded helium-filled rubber doll he found trapped in the branches of a tree in August of 2005. Pochailoet tethered the greenish-orange doll outside his home convinced that it would make a good scarecrow for his vegetable garden, which was constantly being raided by stray ducks and chickens, He described the doll as being about 3-feet in height with a large head — upon which were distinct a nose, eyes and mouth — and tiny arms and legs. Notably he mentioned that it did not have ears. On August 29th, a huge storm swept through Pochailoet’s village taking his trusty scarecrow with it. It would be two days later that the flap of alien sightings would begin in Kitkangbon’s rice field in Huay Nam Rak. Pochailoet later claimed — in a September 11th interview with the “Ruam Duay Chuay Kan” community radio station — that, while he assumed that his floating doll might be the cause of the alien sightings, he did not come forward for fear that the villagers would accuse him of lying, which is why he waited so long to come forward with his story. While it is tempting to dismiss this entire incident as an obvious case of mistaken identity, one is hard pressed to ignore the fact that an animate, large-eared, armless, tiny mouthed, red-eyed, yellow-orange creature does not quite fit the bill of an inanimate, ear-less, armed, wide mouthed, non-red-eyed, greenish-orange inflatable doll.To further confirm this supposition, when a reporter showed a — frustratingly difficult to find — photograph he had taken of Pochailoet’s doll to the Huay Nam Rak witnesses, they unequivocally claimed that the features of the rubber doll did not match the allegedly extra-terrestrial being they had seen. The villagers further stated that they saw the alien nodding and that the manner in which it floated was intelligently controlled, completely unlike a balloon’s random floating. On September 10th, UFO investigator, Terry Colvin, posted on the UFO Updates website that this story appeared on Thai television. “Thai TV, today, reported on an entity seen in NW Thailand near Chiang Mai. The entity was seen near a rice farm by four or five people. It had a large head and a yellow body. The phantasm then stretched into the sky and disappeared. The news anchor called this a “jahn binh” or flying saucer.” Whether this inexplicable Scarecrow was an alien, a ghost, an unknown species that stirred from its jungle hideaway or nothing more than a helium filled balloon, the citizens of Huay Nam Rak Village were forever affected by the bizarre events that occurred on August 31st, 2005.
Kappa(河童, "river-child"), alternatively called Kawatarō (川太郎, "river-boy") or Kawako (川子, "river-child"), are legendary creatures found in Japanese folklore. In Shintō they are considered to be one of many suijin. A hair-covered variation of a Kappa is called a Hyōsube (ひょうすべ). Kappa are similar to Finnish Näkki, Scandinavian/Germanic Näck/Neck, Czech Vodník and Scottish Kelpie in that all have been used to scare children of dangers lurking in waters. Kappas are typically depicted as roughly humanoid in form, and about the size of a child. Their scaly, reptilian skin ranges in color from green to yellow or blue. Despite their reptilian features, Kappa are said to have apelike faces and scraggly green hair. Kappas supposedly inhabit the ponds and rivers of Japan and have various features to aid them in this environment, such as webbed hands and feet. They are sometimes said to smell like fish, and they can certainly swim like them. The expression kappa-no-kawa-nagare ("a kappa drowning in a river") conveys the idea that even experts make mistakes. Their most notable feature is an indentation on the top of their head that holds water; this is regarded as the source of their power. This cavity must be full whenever a kappa is away from the water; if it spills, the kappa will be unable to move. Although they are reported to inhabit all of Japan, they are often said to be particular to Saga Prefecture. Japanese folklore states that the kappa can be very polite, and can be disabled before it attacks by bowing. The kappa would bow back, and spill the water, disabling itself. Kappa are usually seen as mischievous troublemakers. Their pranks range from the relatively innocent, such as loudly passing gas or looking up women's kimonos, to the malevolent, such as drowning people and animals, kidnapping children. One possible explanation for these creatures is the giant Japanese salamander which is rumored to grow up to six feet in length and lives only in clean, clear streams (which is unfortunately where people like to play).
A kodama (木魂?) is a Spirit from Japanese folklore, which is believed to live in certain trees (similar to the Dryad of Greek mythology). According to the 13th century Ryōbu Shinto manual Reikiki, kodama can be found in groups in the inner reaches of mountains. They occasionally speak, and can especially be heard when a person dies. In modern times, cutting down a tree which houses a kodama is thought to bring misfortune, and such trees are often marked with shimenawa rope. Kodama appear in the animated film Princess Mononoke, in which they are portrayed as small, white humanoids with large, rattling heads and mask-like features, similar to bobble heads. In one scene San (Princess Mononoke) chops down a sapling. They appear to crowd around it. Near the end, when the trees begin to die, kodama can be seen falling from the air and dissolving on the ground. Kodama are presented as demons in the Megami Tensei series, and sometimes 'evolve' into Sudama. Kodama is the name of an independent professional wrestler who works for Chikara. The races found in the forest regions in the The Legend of Zelda games, such as the Kokiri from Ocarina of Time, the Koroks from The Wind Waker and the monkeys from Twilight Princess have been widely regarded as interpretations of the Kodama throughout the series' run. 'Kodama' also appears in the video game Okami as a cherry tree spirit which calls upon their god Amaterasu to save the world which was corrupted by the awakening of an evil spirit of Orochi. Kodama becomes a tree again by the end of the scene and bears a 'fruit' which holds the villagers of the regions taken over by Orochi.
The first Mothman report was on November 12, 1966. It was sighted in many places in Virginia and West Virginia, but the largest number of sightings happened in or near a place known as "the TNT Area," an abandoned ammunition's dump dating from World War II that is near Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The TNT Area is mostly forest, dotted with numerous grassy clearings and concrete domes. It is also riddled with abandoned tunnels, most of which have collapsed, been sealed off, or became flooded with water. A wildlife sanctuary adjoins the TNT Area, and the whole region in . Mothman is usually described as a bipedal, winged humanoid. It's coloration varies from gray to brown to even white. It is reported to be about 7 feet tall, with a wingspan of about 10 feet or more, plus over 300 mph of speed. No head has ever been reported. Instead, two huge red eyes are set in the chest. These eyes are reported to be glowing, or at least reflective. The details of his face (if it has one) and his feet have never been adequately described. Only one witness ever saw the face clearly, and she could only say that the details were horrible and monstrous. She had terrible nightmares and nearly suffered a nervous breakdown. Anyone who gets a close look at Mothman seems to suffer from extreme fear and psychological distress, sometimes lasting for months or years afterwards, all out of proportion to how scared they ought to be. In particular, people say that a sense of pure evil overcomes them when they see Mothman's eyes. Mothman is perhaps six or seven feet tall when standing. He can fold his wings and walk with a weird shuffle that many witnesses compare to a penguin. When he flies, he unfolds his wings and shoots straight up with great speed, then levels out to go wherever he wants to go. He has never been observed flapping his wings, not even on take-off. He just holds then straight and stiff. He can fly much faster than any bird should be able to fly, as measured by those victims who suffered from what seems to be Mothman's favorite activity: chasing cars. He'll fly in front of them and even sometimes try to rip off the roof, and go inside. But his wings don't make it easy, because he doesn't have palms and fingers like humans do. Mothman sightings have been associated with at least two other cryptids. Gigantic thunderbirds with gray bodies and red heads were sighted in the same area at the same time by a few witnesses. There was also a bizarre hairy humanoid of the type that researchers call "big hairy monsters" or "hairy bipeds." This big hairy monster was quite weird because it was headless. The only footprints that have ever been associated with Mothman sightings are very bizarre, consisting of footprints that are unmistakably those of a dog mixed with a few classic Bigfoot footprints. However, these dog footprints have two abnormal characteristics. They are far too big for any known dog, and are pressed into the soil so deeply that they suggest the animal must have weighed several thousand pounds. So far, nobody has claimed to see the giant dog that is suggested by these footprints. Since nobody has seen mothman's feet, they may be his footprints because a creature of that size can weigh a lot. Two legends from Shawnee Indian lore mention creatures closely resembling Mothman, deemed Misignwa and Waupee respectively. In the legend of Misgnwa, description of Mothman is indeed similar to Bigfoot by ceremonial dress used during the Bread Dance. The Waupee legend is also similar in that it's part of Shawnee lore, and that a family of Indians chose to become white hawks living in the forests near Point Pleasant. Many similar cryptids and creatures have been seen worldwide. The sightings are similar to Mothman is many ways, including the fact that most of them seem to be heralds of impending disasters. Some of the places Mothman or it's fellows have visited include a mine in Freiburg, Germany, where a Mothman like creature scared miners away shortly before a collapse. Another notable visit was to the nuclear plant at Chernobyl, where a creature haunted the facilities for a while before the famous nuclear meltdown. Two not so popular incidents with Mothman were 9/11 and the Minnesota bridge collapse. There were two pictures taken on 9/11 and there were multiple sightings before the bridge collapse. Some believe that the Mothman tries to warn people about disasters about to happen. Such as the Freiburg and Chernobyl sightings listed above. However the sightings at Chernobyl never actually happened, and this rumor was started on the internet. Since there only seems to be one Mothman instead of a bunch of his kind, and since he seems rather paranormal, these sightings are not of much interest to cryptozoologists. Cryptozoologists want to discover new kinds of creatures, not hunt for ghosts and spooks. Those who have looked into the problem have suggested sand hill cranes, thunderbirds, or some variety of unknown bird or giant bat or a genetic thing. Mothman is one of the most well known Cryptids in the world. The Mothman Festival is an annual commemoration of the visit of the cryptid known as the Mothman. It is held on the third weekend of every September in Downtown Point Pleasant, West Virginia. The festival features a wide variety of vendors, live music, food.People from all over the world come to experience the unique atmosphere and learn more about the Mothman.
The Orang Bati is a flying cryptid located in Southeast Asia. These vicious, soaring primates are notorious for kidnapping and carrying away children to be eaten during their nocturnal raids on native villages. Covered with acres of unexplored rain forest, the little known Indonesian island of Seram — the second largest island in the Moluccas group — is said to be the home of yet another bizarre winged primate, known as the Orang-Bati. Since as far back as the 1500's the Moluccans have told Christian missionaries blood curdling tales regarding a species of nocturnal, airborne predators, which were infamous for their night time raids on local villages (such as Uraur), as well as their penchant for kidnapping both infants and small children. As to the purposes for which these alleged abductions took place, one can only speculate… and presume the worst. Ostensibly related to other winged monkeys like the Vietnamese Ahool, the Mesoamerican Camazotz (which literally translates as “death bat”) or possibly even the North American Batsquatch, tales of predatory flying monkeys hail from across the globe. That having been noted, there are some researchers who contend that the physical descriptions of these creatures are less like winged primates and more like traditional pterosaurs, such as the African Kongamato. The natives of Seram, however, insist that their night sky is infested with soaring simians, which they describe as being approximately 5-feet in height. These creatures are also said to bear black, leathery wings, red skin and a long, thin tail. Aboriginals have further claimed that these animals emit a long “mournful wail” while on the prowl. The description of the “leathery wings” and “blood-red skin” might indicate a gigantic bat-like creatures like the Olitiau. As if to confirm this fact, the name “Orang-Bati” itself translates from the indigenous language of the Moluccan’s as “men with wings.” Still, some investigators insist that the description of these animals seems to be more in line with that of its Papua New Guinea cousin, the Ropen. This fact also seems to coincide with the purported habitat of the Orang-Bati, which, much like that of the Ropen, consists of a network of caves wedged deep into the side of a now extinct volcano known as Mount Kairatu. In 1987, English missionary, Tyson Hughes, began an 18 month contract to assist the Moluccan tribes people of Seram Island to develop more efficient farms. Tyson heard stories about Mount Kairatu’s Orang-bati and told them to the rest of the “civilized” world, though he remained skeptical regarding their more vicious traits. That was until about midway through his contract, when Hughes claims to have had an actual eyewitness encounter with one of the beasts. After this event, Hughes forged a deeper trust between himself and the indigenous Moluccan’s, which he claims is what helped to inspire him to chronicle their horrific stories of this unusual beast, which natives claim haunt the skies over Seram to this day.
Shadow people are reported worldwide and since the beginning of recorded history. Shadow people seem to be living shadows. They are usually seen out of the corner of peoples eyes. Some people see semi-transparent dark splotches. They vanish as soon as a person realizes what they saw. When people see shadow people a feeling of despair and fear overcome them. There have been some reports of being attacked or chased by these shadows. The shadows are usually larger than a normal shadow and doesn’t resemble the person’s silhouette. They are often reported moving with quick, jerky movements, and quickly disintegrate into walls or mirrors. They are believed to be evil and aggressive in nature, although a few people consider them to be a form of guardian angel. Others report that when looked at in the chest or eyes, they emit a large scream that sounds like screechy static, loud alien winds, and creaking wood. Minecraft, a game, gives a good example of the noise and form of the Cryptid, with the mob called the Enderman. Here is a link to the sound of the scream of the Enderman in minecraft, it is similar to the reports of the Shadow Person scream.
Tsul 'Kalu (the Slant-Eyed or Sloping Giant), is a legendary figure in Cherokee mythology who plays the role of "the great lord of the game", and as such is frequently invoked in hunting rites and rituals. Tsul 'Kalu is also believed by some to be the Cherokee version of Sasquatch or Bigfoot because he seems to share several physical and behavioral traits with the creature. The creature supposedly is thought to be able to control and read minds, as discussed and proved on Destination America's hit show Mountain Monsters. The tale is one of the best known Cherokee legends and was recorded by Europeans as early as 1823, often using the spelling, Tuli cula. The name Tsul 'Kalu means literally "he has them slanting/sloping", being understood to refer to his eyes, although the word eye (akta, plural dikta) is not a part of it. In the plural form it is also the name of a traditional race of giants in the far west. The Charlotte Observer and Thaindian News have reported that a Cleveland County man claims to have had a face to face encounter with the legendary beast known as Bigfoot after it killed one of his dogs. According to the report, resident Tim Peeler informed the police of a bizarre encounter that occurred in the early-morning hours of June 5, 2010. Peeler told authorities that the hairy humanoid wandered onto his property in the rural northwest part of the county. Peeler explained to deputies that he heard screeching and grunting sounds coming from outside of his cabin, and went out to investigate, fearing that something may be tormenting his dogs. What he saw was a 10 feet tall creature, with a long beard and yellowish hair near his mountain home. At this point Peeler claimed he grabbed a large stick and made menacing gestures at the man-beast. The beast left, but one of Peeler’s five dogs was not so lucky, as is indicated from the excerpt from his 911 call: “This beast killed one of my five dogs. I threw a light on it but I could not hit it as I was very afraid. It seems like an ape with a human face… I’m going to kill him if he comes too close to me.” Peeler lives northwest of the town of Casar, where there is little or no civilization between his property and South Mountain State Park, one of North Carolina’s least-developed recreational sites. Peeler, who claimed the creature had six fingers on each hand, said the Bigfoot left his abode, but came back a short time later. “I rough-talked him and said, ‘You get away from here!’ And I said, ‘Get! Get!’ And he went back down the path again!” These reports aren’t new to Cleveland County, although it has been three decades since KNOBBY — the county’s other well-publicized Bigfoot — was in the news. In the winter of 1978 and ’79, a number of people in the area near Carpenter’s Knob, north of Kings Mountain, reported seeing a large creature with long back hair, walking on two legs. Authorities surmised residents were seeing a large black bear. One property owner reported one of his goats died of a broken neck, and newspaper stories from the time report of “monster” hunts by some of the area’s braver residents. Those stories tell of large footprints being found, and of theories that the creature might have been a panther. Reports of the sightings died out in the spring of 1979. The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office has filed the Peeler case as a “suspicious person report” but says it is keeping an open mind. Sgt. Mark Self says they patrols the area near Peeler’s property regularly and they’ll be on the lookout for anything unusual: “If we see something, we’ll try to capture it and take it into custody.” A long time ago a widow lived with her one daughter at the old town of Känuga on Pigeon River. The girl was of age to marry, and her mother used to talk with her a good deal. One day, her mother told her she must be sure to take no one but a good hunter for a husband, so that they would have some one to take care of them and would always have plenty of meat in the house. The girl said such a man was hard to find, but her mother advised her not to be in a hurry, and to wait until the right one came. Now the mother slept in the house while the girl slept outside in the âsï. One dark night a stranger came to the âsï wanting to court the girl, but she told him her mother would let her marry no one but a good hunter. "Well," said the stranger, "I am a great hunter," so she let him come in, and he stayed all night. Just before day he said he must go back now to his own place, but that he had brought some meat for her mother, and she would find it outside. Then he went away and the girl had not seen him. When day came she went out and found there a deer, which she brought into the house to her mother, and told her it was a present from her new sweetheart. Her mother was pleased, and they had deer steaks for breakfast. He came again the next night, but again went away before daylight, and this time he left two deer outside. The mother was more pleased this time, but said to her daughter, "I wish your sweetheart would bring us some wood." Now wherever he might be, the stranger knew their thoughts, so when he came the next time he said to the girl, "Tell your mother I have brought the wood"; and when she looked out in the morning there were several great trees lying in front of the door, roots and branches and all. The old woman was angry, and said, "He might have brought us some wood that we could use instead of whole trees that we can't split, to litter up the road with brush." The hunter knew what she said, and the next time he came he brought nothing, and when they looked out in the morning the trees were gone and there was no wood at all, so the old woman had to go after some herself. Almost every night he came to see the girl, and each time he brought a deer or some other game, but still he always left before daylight. At last her mother said to her, "Your husband always leaves before daylight. Why don't he wait? I want to see what kind of a son-in-law I have." When the girl told this to her husband he said he could not let the old woman see him, because the sight would frighten her. "She wants to see you, anyhow," said the girl, and began to cry, until at last he had to consent, but warned her that her mother must not say that he looked frightful (usga'së`ti'yu). The next morning he did not leave so early, but stayed in the âsï, and when it was daylight the girl went out and told her mother. The old woman came and looked in, and there she saw a great giant, with long slanting eyes (tsul`kälû'), lying doubled up on the floor, with his head against the rafters in the left-hand corner at the back, and his toes scraping the roof in the right-hand corner by the door. She gave only one look and ran back to the house, crying, Usga'së`ti'yu! Usga'së`ti'yu! Tsul`kälû' was terribly angry. He untwisted himself and came out of the âsï, and said good-bye to the girl, telling her that he would never let her mother see him again, but would go back to his own country. Then he went off in the direction of Tsunegûñ'yï. (Mooney, 1900)
